A4 - Setting Bounds
When painting, it is often desirable to restrict yourself to a certain area. A good example is if you are colouring something in, and want to stay within the lines. This assignment explore two ways of doing this.
Alpha Lock
On the Layer Docker, next to each layer, you will see a little checkerboard all the way to the right. Clicking it sets the Alpha Lock. When the alpha lock is set, you can only paint on non-transparent pixels within the layer.
For a demonstration, see this video.
Alpha Inherit
This method is a little more complicated, but provides more flexibility.
Again, on the Layer Docker, next to each layer, you will see the greek alpha symbol (sort of looks like a lowercase A). Clicking on this sets the Alpha Inherit. When active, anything you paint on pixels that are transparent on all layers below the current layer will be hidden.
Krita allows you to group layers, which is useful when using alpha inherit. When grouped, anything you paint on pixels that are transparent on all layers below the current layer and in the same group will be hidden.
For a demonstration, see this video.
Your Task
Create two Krita documents, one that uses Alpha Lock and one that uses Alpha Inherit.
Documents similar to my two videos linked above will be sufficient for completion. Anything more complex will be considered an extension.
