A1 - Getting Started in Blender
[ Video Resource ] - We'll follow through the video together in class, and mimic the creation in the video as we go along.
Key Points from Video
These are my rough notes I took from the video when I first watched it. They're a little messy, but they may help jog your memory if you forget some of the details from the video.
- Add monkey, learn hot keys below, go into rendered mode, play around with moving the light.
- Shift-A: Add
- Middle mouse - orbit
- Shift-Middle mouse – pan
- G – Grab
- X, Y or Z to choose axis
- Middle mouse button – snap to axis
- Left click – confirm
- Right click or ESC – cancel
- Render -> Render Image (hot-key F12)

Look through camera – camera icon on right hand side, or number pad 0

Move camera
- Select camera in sidebar, press N to, view tab, lock camera to view
- Orbit normally
- Reverse when done

Select Monkey, red material icon in properties (bottom one), new, base color.

Add cone for hat.

S for scale (or icon on left hand bar)
- X, Y or Z to stretch along a certain axis

R for rotate
- X, Y, or Z to rotate along certain axis

Rotate monkey to face camera.
