A3 - What Online Sources Can We Trust?

Assuming, in general, we trust the government, scientists, doctors, etc over the conspiracy theorists!

A good overview can be found here.

In summary, we can trust

  • Canadian/Ontario government websites – domain name ending in .gc.ca or .on.ca
  • Information from academic institutions
  • Mainstream news, for example the CBC in Canada or CNN in the United States. Beware of bias (see chart below)
  • Health – Cleveland Clinic, WebMd, Mayo Clinic are reputable, but not a replacement for a visit your doctor if you have a health concern
  • Fact checking – snopes, politofact, factcheck.org are reputable sites. More here.

Over time, you will identify your own sources that earn your trust.
