A4 - Efficiently Using the Clipboard

When we copy or cut data in windows, it temporarily stores it on the clipboard. In this assignment, we're going to look at some tips and tricks for cut/copy/paste and use of the clipboard. Specifically, we'll be looking at:

  • Selecting quickly by double click or triple click
  • Holding down CTRL or SHIFT while selecting or moving arrow keys along text
  • The CTRL+A shortcut
  • Taking screenshots
  • Pasting text formatted vs unformatted (and the CTRL+SHIFT+V feature in many applications)
  • The Windows+V clipboard viewer

Your Task

After we've gone over these as a class, you will either create or present something of your choice that shows your understanding of these.

Here are some suggestions:

  • You could put a slide presentation together (it doesn't need to be actually presented)
  • You could do a short talk or presentation to the class, either individually or with one or two partners
  • You could produce some some of tutorial in a Google Doc - please make sure you are doing all your work in the same Google Doc, so if your tutorial appears to be AI generated I can look through the version history to see the process
  • If you would like to get AI to generate a tutorial for you, then also submit the prompt you used. The prompt itself in this case should demonstrate your understanding of each of the topics from this assignment. Also indicate any tweaks you decided to make to the AI's generated output.
